Peer Review Process

The Maldives Journal of Engineering and Technology (MJET) employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartial and objective evaluation of submitted manuscripts. This process helps maintain the integrity and quality of published articles in the field of engineering and technology.

Initial Check

  1. The editorial office performs an initial check for adherence to submission guidelines, plagiarism, and ethical compliance, and conducts an initial evaluation to ensure that the manuscript meets the journal's scope
  2. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's criteria may be desk rejected at this stage, while those that do not meet submission guidelines may be returned to the author for correction.
  3. Such corrected manuscripts must be resubmitted to the journal’s submission system as new manuscripts and will be treated as new a submission.
  4. Manuscripts with a minor or moderate similarity index may be returned to the author for revision with a two-week deadline. Refer to Plagiarism policy for acceptable similarity indexes and further details.
  5. If there is no formal response (including a request for an extension) after the deadline, manuscript can be rejected and any submission after rejection should be treated as a new submission.

Review

  1. Manuscripts will undergo peer review by at least two reviewers.
  2. Authors may be required to revise the manuscript based on reviewer feedback.

Academic Editing

  1. Minor academic editing may be conducted on manuscripts free of charge before or after review, if necessary, without prior notice to the author.
  2. Major academic editing will be performed at a cost agreed upon with the author.

Decision

  1. The editorial team will communicate the decision (acceptance with no revision or with minor revision or with major revision or rejection, or re-review) based on reviewer recommendations.

Revision and Resubmission

  1. Authors should address reviewer comments thoroughly in a response letter.
  2. Highlight changes made in the revised manuscript.
  3. Authors will be given one week to submit fully amended manuscript
  4. Authors will be given two reminders to submit the amended manuscript within a week’s time after the deadline and manuscript shall be withdrawn at the end of the 2nd week unless a request is received from the author for an extension
  5. Authors should request through an email if an extension is required
  6. The amended manuscripts will be reviewed and decision are made whether to send for further revisions to authors or to academic editing before proceeding with publication.
  7. Revised manuscripts may be back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation to ensures that the authors have adequately addressed the reviewers' concerns.
  8. In case of further corrections, authors shall be given three days and manuscript shall be withdrawn if not received with a week

Post-Acceptance

Proofreading

  1. Authors will receive proofs for final approval.
  2. Check for accuracy and clarity, and promptly respond with any corrections.

Publication

  1. Accepted manuscripts will be published online and in the next available issue of the journal.
