Corrections and Errata Policy
1. Purpose
The Maldives Journal of Engineering and Technology (MJET) is committed to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of published research. This Corrections and Errata Policy outlines the standard measures for addressing and correcting errors or inaccuracies in published articles.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all articles published in MJET. All articles will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Corrections may be initiated by authors, editors, or readers
3. Definitions
3.1 Corrections
Corrections include significant errors that affect the integrity or interpretation of the article, such as errors in data, methods, or conclusions.
3.2 Errata
Errata includes minor errors, such as typographical errors or formatting issues, that do not significantly impact the scientific content or interpretation.
3.3 Retraction
Retraction is removal of an article from the journal due to significant errors or ethical issues that invalidate the findings.
4. Identification of Errors
Errors may be identified by:
- Authors of the article
- Editors and reviewers
- Readers of the journal
5. Procedure for Reporting Errors
5.1 Authors
Authors are responsible for promptly notifying MJET if they discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published article. Authors should notify the editorial office with a detailed description of the error and the proposed correction.
5.2 Readers and Editors
Readers of the journal and Editorial board members should contact the editorial office with a detailed description of the error.
6. Editorial Review
6.1 Editorial Assessment
The editorial team will assess the nature and significance of the error reported.
6.2 Decision
Based on the assessment, MJET will decide whether the reported issue requires a correction or an erratum.
7. Types of Corrections
7.1 Corrections
Published as a separate article with a title that clearly indicates it is a correction, linking to the original article, and describing the nature of the error and corrections made.
7.2 Errata
Minor errors are corrected in the form of a notice in the next available issue, specifying the nature of the error and the correction made.
8. Retraction
In cases of serious errors or misconduct identified post-publication, MJET may retract an article. A retraction notice will be published in the next available issue and linked to the original article. The article in archive will be marked as retracted with a retraction notice.
9. Notification and Disclosure
9.1 Transparency
Corrections and errata will be clearly marked, dated, and linked to the original article on the MJET website.
9.2 Author Notification
Authors of the original article will be informed of the correction or erratum or retraction and provided an opportunity to respond.
10. Appeals and Disputes
Authors may appeal editorial decisions regarding corrections or errata through a formal appeals process outlined by MJET.
11. Continuous Improvement
- This Corrections and Errata Policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect current best practices and ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
- Any changes to the policy should be approved by the editorial board and communicated to all stakeholders promptly
